Save-on-Foods pledges to match $500k to keep vulnerable kids fed amidst pandemic
LANGLEY—Save-on-Foods has committed $500,000 towards their $1 million fundraising goal aimed at giving kids easier access to school meal-supports in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a release by Save-on-Foods, one in five Canadian school-aged children rely on school-based nutrition programs and with schools being out of session (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) children who rely on those programs may not be getting the nutrition they need.
Over the past three years through Save-on-Foods participation in The Grocery Foundation’s Toonies for Tummies program, Save-on-Foods and its customers have provided 250,000 meals to kids at schools.
The funds raised locally go straight to supporting kids in our community.
