Bears are out and looking for easy food sources
PRINCE GEORGE – As the snow melts away the bear activity begins to ramp up.
In the past few days, the Prince George Conservation Officer Service has received calls regarding sightings of bears coming out of hibernation and roaming city streets.
According to the C.O. Service this is a good reminder for residents to start securing bear attractants as the bears come out of their dens looking for food.
The Prince George Conservation officers are patrolling the neighbourhoods. Recently reported were sightings of a bear roaming the College Heights area getting into garbage and bird feeders. Conservation Officer Sgt. Steve Ackles says this bear’s behaviour is demonstrating it grew up living on garbage.
