PRINCE GEORGE – Canada’s police service, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, hs taken strides to continue their policing commitment during the coronavirus pandemic.

Officers assigned to the frontline duties during the outbreak are trained in dealing with communal diseases.

The priority for an officer working the frontline is to protect their health and safety first and then the safety of the public. The officer’s safety starts when a call is taken by the 911 operator.

RCMP is monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is engaged with Public Health Agencies across the province. Police continue to respond to calls for service like they always have before the pandemic.

Police continue to look at enforcement opportunities that involve high-risk behaviour like impaired driving and cell phone infractions.

The RCMP has almost 10,000 employees in BC. 7712 of those are regular civilian members and Special Constables, with the remaining being Public Service Employees.
