When the 2019-2020 campaign started back in September blue liner Aiden Reeves was a member of the Cariboo Cougars.

However, at the time the 17-year-old defenceman didn’t know that the Major Midget Cats would be one of three teams he would play for during the campaign.

Reeves would affiliate with the Spruce Kings for 7 games and then get the call up to the Cougars in January where he would finish the season.

“I got a call that day when I was on my way to school and it was my dad saying that I would be on the Cougars,” shared Reeves.

“It was a pretty cool moment for both of us. He had lived in Prince George most of his life so we had both been going to Cougars games for a while so it was a cool moment for us to share.”

Reeves spent the final two months of the season with the Cats where he got into 12 games and earned an assist. However, the time spent with the club during the stretch drive proved to be a major learning experience for the blueliner.

“Everyone was super good to me. Obviously, there were some guys who helped me along the way, just depending on different stuff. They were a great leadership group. They could tell you some pointers and stuff and it wasn’t like you were going to take it to heart. You knew they just wanted the best for you,” explained Reeves.

Now with the season over, Reeves is beginning to get himself ready for the 2020-2021 season and he hopes to continue to get stronger and faster during the off-season so he is best prepared for his first full season with the Cougars.
