UPDATE: 1 new case of COVID-19 in Northern Health

VICTORIA—Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 25 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C along with one death on Tuesday.

There is one more case of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region, bringing the total to 40 confirmed cases of the virus in the North.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 707
  • Fraser Health: 715
  • Vancouver Island Health: 109
  • Interior Health: 153
  • Northern Health: 40

The total number of confirmed cases, provincially is now 1,724.

The single death was a senior at a long-term care facility in the Vancouver Coastal Health Region.

“We are requiring you to self isolate upon your return.”—Dr. Bonnie Henry

Yesterday Henry announced that COVID-19 was identified at the Kearl Lake oilsands project in Alberta, which involved staff from B.C.

Henry reiterated what she said yesterday about “requiring” anyone returning to B.C. from that project to immediately self isolate for 14 days. For those who have been home for longer they are asked to contact 8-1-1 if they had any symptoms during that time.

109 people are hospitalized due to the virus at this time, 1,041 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.

Henry is reminding the public that this isn’t over yet and that British Columbians must continue to self distance and self isolate if they have symptoms.
