New CNC budget considers effects of COVID-19
PRINCE GEORGE — The College of New Caledonia’s Board of Governors has passed a balanced budget for the 2020/21 fiscal year.
The budget has considerations for the current COVID-19 pandemic. It includes contingencies for a possible decline in enrolment and funds to help support faculty and students with alternate delivery methods. When two percent domestic tuition and three percent international tuition increases were approved in November 2019, it advised those funds be invested directly to the support and development of students.
“As we work through the uncertainly of this pandemic, we will adjust for contingencies for a number of situations that could happen,” said CNC President Dr. Dennis Johnson in a statement. “The College will continue to monitor the evolving situation and adapt our strategies to best support CNC students and employees.”
Adding onto last year’s addition of faculty positions to help meet student demands, there is an increase in funding for faculty regularizations for those positions. The budget also features additions to reflect the second year of delivery of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and the first year of the Civil Engineering Technologist program scheduled to launch in the fall.
