PRINCE GEORGE—The Wheelin’ Warriors of the North have beat their $1 million fundraising milestone for the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

Captain and Founder of the Wheelin’ Warriors of the North, Karin Piche, made the announcement today, saying that it wouldn’t have been possible without community support.

“Together, we did it! I can not contain my excitement today as I proudly announce to our community that Wheelin’ Warriors of the North has surpassed the $1 million raised for cancer research and care.”—Karin Piche, Captain and Founder, Wheelin’ Warriors of the North

The Wheelin’ Warriors were founded by Piche in 2013, and is a team of cyclists that participate in the B.C. Ride to Conquer Cancer every year.

Riders of all athletic abilities participate in the event and are required to raise $2,500 for the B.C. Cancer Foundation while also cycling 200km or more in a single weekend.

Fundraising and endurance training foes on all year and the money raised by the team stays locally, supporting the B.C. Cancer Centre for the North.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Wheelin’ Warriors of the North. Together, you have improved and saved lives through your commitment to the Ride to Conquer Cancer.”—Sarah Roth, President and CEO, B.C. Cancer Foundation

The $1 million announcement comes two weeks after it was announced that this year’s B.C. Ride to Conquer Cancer will be postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

So far this year, the team has raised $45,492.
