UPDATE: 3 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 23 new cases in B.C.

VICTORIA—Three new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region were reported today in a joint statement by B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr Bonnie Henry and Health Minister, Adrian Dix.

The three new cases brings the total to 54 cases in the north.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 852
  • Fraser Health: 1,046
  • Vancouver Island Health: 124
  • Interior Health: 179
  • Northern Health: 54

Provincially 23 new cases of the virus were reported along with three deaths; one in the Island Health region and two in Vancouver. B.C. is now at 2,255 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The provincial death toll to COVID-19 is now at 124. Both Henry and Dix offered their condolences to “everyone who has lost their loved ones.”

74 people are currently in hospital and 19 of those are in ICU.

“We are not yet ready to make any changes to the measures we have in place – just this week, new outbreaks have emerged. Without continued vigilance, hot spots will quickly flare.”

No new outbreaks in long-term care facilities were reported today.

The statement added that we must continue to practice social distancing and that “we must also continue to show kindness and compassion to those around us, as we remain 100% committed. It is in all of our hands. Let’s remember to wash them.”

To date 1,494 people have recovered from the virus.
