One new case of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 21 new in BC
VICTORIA — There are 21 new positive cases of COVID-19 in BC, bringing the total to 2,428 as of May 16. One of those new cases is in Northern Health for a total of 59. One more death to report, in Vancouver Coastal Health, to raise the provincewide total to 141. Meanwhile, 1,932 patients have fully recovered.
During her update, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry referenced the guidelines and protocols established to allow some businesses to reopen starting next week. She stressed the importance of following those guidelines for both businesses and other social interactions. She said, “No matter what your business is or where you may be operating, it’s very important to remember the most effective ways to reduce the potential for transmission of COVID-19. Those are making sure we have safe physical distancing, never allowing anyone with symptoms to come into your place of work, and this applies to you, your employees, and customers… There can be no flexibility on this piece.”
