No new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 36 new cases in B.C.

VICTORIA—No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Northern Health Region today (June 15).

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister, Adrian Dix reported on a three-day period, from Friday until now, announcing 36 new cases.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 934
  • Fraser Health: 1,420
  • Vancouver Island Health: 130
  • Interior Health: 195
  • Northern Health: 65

The 36 new cases brings B.C.’s total to 2,745 confirmed cases of the virus. There are a total of 182 active cases of the virus in B.C., with 13 of those in hospital and four in critical care.

No deaths were reported today.

No new community, or healthcare outbreaks were reported today. Dr. Henry announcing that that Kearl Lake outbreak in Alberta has been declared over.

As restrictions loosen and places begin re-opening, Dr. Henry mentioned that it can be easy to forget that the pandemic is “far from over.” Henry says that the virus will continue in our communities for months to come, as there is no cure just yet.

Henry highlighting that British Columbians must continue to stay in small circles of friends and family, stay home if you’re feeling sick, and if planning trips in the province to call-ahead and know what to expect upon arrival at communities across B.C.
