No new cases of COVID-19 in NH, 11 new cases in B.C.

VANCOUVER—Another day with no new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region.

The total of test positive cases in the north remains at 65. Provincially 11 new cases were reported, with one being an epidemiologically linked one.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 940
  • Fraser Health: 1426 *to be confirmed
  • Vancouver Island Health: 130
  • Interior Health: 195
  • Northern Health: 65

There is now a total of 2,756 test positive cases in B.C., 172 of those are active cases.

No new deaths were reported. To-date there are 11 people in hospital and five are in critical care.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced one new health-care outbreak in the Fraser Health region, bringing the total to five outbreaks in the health-care system. 579 people have been affected by COVID-19 in the health-care system with 357 of those being residents and 222 being staff.

Health Minister, Adrian Dix spoke about PPE in today’s update mentioning that the province has to prepare for the possible resurgence of the virus, and that means stocking up on PPE. Dix mentioning that the province is preparing for the possibility of a second wave.

Once again Dr. Henry re-iterated that the province is taking a gradual approach to re-opening and that while restrictions have been loosened many will remain in place for close-contact areas and crowds, in order to continue to contain COVID-19.

2,416 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
