PRINCE GEORGE—The sound of needles puncturing fabric will once again be heard at Theatre NorthWest this summer, as they’ve announced they will continue with their summer sewing camps.

The sewing camps have happened annually for the past three years at the theatre, teaching children, youth and adults sewing skills.

“We are absolutely committed to the health and safety of all our students and staff associated with sewing camps.”—Marnie Hamagami, Executive Director, Theatre NorthWest

“We have been working hard to develop a health and safety plan that is tailored to our programme and space. We also know that sewing campers are ready to sit in one spot and work on their projects. Our Camps are inherently based on an individual activity. So, we felt that moving forward was the right thing for us,” adds Hamagami.

There is one age-based program, which targets children age 7-10, while all others are based on skill level: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. A drop-in session is also offered to those who would like expert advice on their projects, or simply want to get out of the house and sew.

“We know the past few months have been hard for everybody, and now that we are starting to open up, I hope many parents and guardians will take this opportunity for their children to learn a skill they can sit and do quietly at home.”—Marnie Hamagami, Executive Director, Theatre NorthWest

Samantha Perrin, of Prince George will lead the summer camp, and says she is excited to share her “love for sewing” with the community.
