Road rehabilitation starting this week

PRINCE GEORGE—Road rehabilitation starts this week.

The City says that four road rehabilitation projects will take place beginning this week and will be done at night in order to minimize traffic disruptions.

Preparation work will begin on George St. between 1st Ave. and 6th Ave. downtown, with paving scheduled to begin next week. Milling operations are also scheduled to begin on 3rd Ave. between Quebec St. and George St.

Two other operations will also take place this week at high traffic intersections: Massey Dr. and Westwood Dr. and O’Grady Rd. and Domano Blvd.

Construction operations will begin at 7 p.m. in an attempt to not disrupt traffic flow and are scheduled to be completed by June 24. The City does mention that the timeline for completion is subject to weather conditions.

According to the City, crews have completed close to half of their 36 road projects for 2020.

Sidewalk construction has also begun to install new curbs and gutters on Patricia Blvd.prior to the repaving of the sidewalk. A new sidewalk is being built along Queensway from Connaught Dr. to Lower Patricia Blvd. and will include the relocation of street-lights and irrigation.

As for the water main installation to the new fire hall, Carney St. from Winnipeg St. to Ellison Dr. remain closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, into next week.
