VANDERHOOF — Sad news out of Vanderhoof.

School District 91 has confirmed that long-time school trustee Rosalie Nichiporuk has passed away.

Nichiporuk had been a trustee in the district for 34 years.

According to the BC School Trustees Association, she passed away unexpectedly last week following post-surgical complications which the BCSTA notes is a “tremendous loss to her family, the community of Vanderhoof, and the many organizations whom Rosalie worked on behalf of.”

“Rosalie loved life and laughter, and her positive energy will be missed by all of us that had the pleasure of working with her and calling her a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosalie’s family,” adds the BCSTA.

School District 91 Superintendent Manu Madhok was also saddened by Nichiporuk’s passing and shared the following words.

“Although Rosalie was a school district trustee and advocate for public education for 34 years, she was also far more. She exemplified the qualities of an engaged, educated citizen who lived life to the fullest while continually improving her community, always with a smile on her face. Rosalie’s countless hours of Trustee work along with her many other volunteer positions with many community organizations have left lasting value to our school district and the community of Vanderhoof. We will all miss Rosalie’s positive energy and infectious laughter!”

Nichiporuk’s family has scheduled a celebration of life today at 1 p.m.
