PRINCE GEORGE – The most popular water park in the city is back up and running.

Earlier this week the city got the green light from the province to gradually open parks with physical distancing in mind.

One city councillor is glad the Rotary spray park is open. However, they would like other water feature parks open so residents can practice better social distancing.

There is a limited amount of time for residents to enjoy outdoor water activities can be limited because of our weather.

On Monday, following health official guidelines, city staff turned on the taps at the water park located at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Councillor Cori Ramsay appreciates city staff opening the popular water park as it gives residents the opportunity to enjoy the summer.

Ramsay would also like to see the water fountain located in the Canada Winter Games Plaza in operation so residents have more opportunities to enjoy outdoor water activities.

City staff is encouraging park users to remember those key health messages in slowing the spread of the coronavirus when at public parks, including the need for social distancing.

The city parks and open spaces are open every day from 6 am to 10 pm.
