If you’re feeling lethargic, even after a full eight hours sleep…it might be because you’re deficient in nutrients.

I spoke with Patrick Dinelle, pharmacy manager at Third Ave. Pharmacy and he highlighted some of the most common vitamin deficiencies.

“The more common vitamin deficiencies are Vitamin D, and calcium, B-12. But it all varies from person to person.”—Patrick Dinelle, pharmacy manager at Third Ave. Pharmacy

Omega’s also make it onto the list of most common nutrient deficiency. When your body lacks the right amount of nutrients, you may feel fatigued, suffer from yellowing skin, weight loss and even muscle weakness.

Dinelle says to find out if you have a deficiency, to visit your doctor for a blood test to determine what your diet may be missing.—Yes, at the end of the day deficiencies come down to your diet.

“Some ways to stay not deficient in vitamins is to have a well balanced diet. Lots of fruits veggies, meat or some protein sources or if a person is vegan or vegetarian they can get some supplements.”—Patrick Dinelle, pharmacy manager at Third Ave. Pharmacy

Vitamin B-12 can be found in meat, Omega’s in fish and flax, calcium in dairy and some vegetables, and Vitamin D—this one’s easy, at least in the summer—from sunshine.
