102 new cases of COVID-19 reported in BC over weekend

VICTORIA— Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 102 new test-positive cases of COVID-19 within British Columbia on Monday.

The update provided three time periods since the last update on Friday afternoon. From Friday to Saturday, the province saw 51 new cases. From Saturday to Sunday, there were 19 new cases. From Sunday to Monday, there have been 32 cases of the virus diagnosed.

The provincial total of cases now sits at 3,300. However, Dr. Henry did not have any new deaths to report with the provincial death toll remaining at 189.

Currently, there are 253 test-positive cases that are considered active. 16 of those cases are patients being kept in hospital, four of which are being cared for in ICU.

Each of the Province’s health authorities experienced at least one new active case over the weekend. There was one lone new case of the virus reported for Northern Health.

However, Dr. Bonnie Henry stated that there have not been any new cases from the Site C work camp within the Northern Health region. it was announced that one worker who’d arrived from Alberta to the camp last week tested positive for COVID-19.
