Fort St. John couple wins $675,000 on way to lake

VANCOUVER—It was a normal day for a Fort St. John couple, until it wasn’t.

The duo, Bonnie and Carl Niekcamp were headed on a camping trip not too long ago when they stopped at the Charlie Lake General Store outside of Fort St. John to pick up a Set for Life Scratch and Win ticket—a tradition of theirs. They got back into their vehicle when Bonnie decided to scan the ticket using the BCLC’s Lotto! app.

“When it told me I was a winner, I asked Carl to pull over,” said Bonnie. “We were both shocked. I turned the ticket over to make sure we were playing the game right and read over the instructions.”
