WILLIAMS LAKE — Williams Lake RCMP are seeking witnesses to an early morning assault and robbery.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says police received the report at 2:25 a.m. this morning (July 24).

“The victim was near 3rd Avenue and Proctor Street when the suspect got out of a vehicle and struck the victim. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries,” she says.

“The suspect tried to take the victim’s backpack before taking the victim’s bicycle and trailer then fleeing the scene. The bicycle and trailer were recovered a short time later.”

Saunderson says the victim was able to provide the identity of the suspect and a description of the vehicle the suspect initially got out of. She says police immediately conducted patrols of the area and arrested the suspect.

“The victim and suspect are known to each other and police do not believe the greater public is at further risk. Police would like to speak to anyone who may have information on this.”
