PRINCE GEORGE – With the City building a new fire hall, the Regional District of Fraser Fort George has decided it was time to upgrade its Emergency Operations Centre back up site. It will be a facility built at Opie Crescent and Ospika Boulevard.

“The primary reason we’ve embarked on this program right now is the advent of NG 911 coming our way,” explains Michael Higgins, the General Manager of Community Services. “We took the opportunity to look at the entire system, both as a dispatch system and a 911 system to make the necessary upgrades into the future.”

The Regional District provides 911 services to more than 80 fire hall across Northern BC and the greater Creston area.

The contract has been awarded for the project and Higgins hopes to have it completed next year.
