No new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 47 in B.C.

VICTORIA– There are 47 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including one epi-linked one, this announced this afternoon in a joint press release by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister, Adrian Dix.

None of those are in the Northern Health region, the north remaining at a total of 91 test-positive cases of the virus.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 1,132
  • Fraser Health: 2,015
  • Vancouver Island Health: 146
  • Interior Health: 384
  • Northern Health: 91
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 66

Provincially, today’s (Aug.5) new cases bring B.C.’s number of test-positive cases to 3,834. Currently, there are 351 active cases in the province, with nine of those in hospital and six in ICU.

There are no new deaths in B.C., the death toll remaining at 195. No new community or healthcare outbreaks were announced. Community exposure events continue to pop up across the province and British Columbians are being advised to check the BCCDC’s website for updated exposure events.

Both Dix and Henry are reminding British Columbians to check in with their friends and loved ones in an attempt to “provide a mental health boost.”

“People all across B.C. have demonstrated unparalleled compassion and kindness in the face of COVID-19. It is something we can all be proud of and something we must continue,” read the statement.
