Kids excited to be back on the ice through Kings Hockey School

It’s been a refreshing sight at Kins 1,2, and 3 the last few days with hockey players in the City of Prince George returning to the ice.

This includes the Spruce Kings annual hockey school, which allows players from a variety of age levels to learn from their local Junior A team.

“We are thankful that the City was able to open these rinks and allows us to continue a modified version of our hockey school,” shared Spruce Kings Head Coach Alex Evin.

However, this year’s hockey school looks a little different due to new Covid-19 protocols, and as a result, it has been an adjustment for everyone involved.

“It’s challenging for sure. It is different for everybody. We haven’t been prepared for this our whole lives. I think the kids are doing a really good job. The kids have been really well behaved. We have been really impressed and that just comes with good parenting,” added Evin.

From an organizational standpoint, the hockey school is a staple each and every year and it means a lot for them to be able to hold it in some capacity this year.

“I think it’s great for our youth to be back on the ice and having fun and hopefully learning some new skills,” concluded Evin.

The Kings hockey school wraps up on August 28.
