Four more cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 104 in B.C.

VICTORIA—A total of 104 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. were reported this afternoon (Sept.2).

Six of those cases are epi-linked, while four of today’s (Sept.2) cases are in the Northern Health region. The north is now sitting at 164 test positive cases, an increase of four cases since yesterday’s (Sept.1) announcement.

Cases by Health Region:

• Vancouver Coastal Health: 1,974
• Fraser Health: 3,112
• Island Health: 178
• Interior Health: 445
• Northern Health: 164
• People who reside outside of Canada: 79

There are no new deaths, the provincial death toll remains at 209. There are 1,127 active cases. 2,786 people who are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases,

Provincially there are a total of 5,952 cases, with 33 people in hospital and of those 14 in ICU.

There is one new health-care facility outbreak in the lower-mainland, and one has been declared over for a total of ten active outbreaks in health care. There are no new community outbreaks, however, community exposure events continue to pop up across the province. Northern B.C. residents who may have been aboard Flair Airlines flight number: 8711 From Vancouver to Prince George and Prince George to Edmonton, on August 24th may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Alerts for any community exposure in the province can be found on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s website.

“We need to redouble our efforts to ensure our layers of protection are always part of our daily routines – for everyone in our family. This will allow us to push our curve down once again,” continues the statement.

The duo are asking British Columbians to take a step back and rethink how their actions or inactions may affect those closest to them, such as loved ones and friends. “Let’s choose to keep our groups small. Let’s choose to be the person that stays home when we are ill and let’s choose to be safe each and every day while COVID-19 remains in our communities,” ends the statement.

4,605 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
