‘You are improving the lives of British Columbians every day,’: Premier thanks workers in Labour Day statement
VICTORIA–B.C.’s Premier, John Horgan, issued a statement in regards to Labour Day.
“The history of Labour Day in Canada is rooted in protest, from a time when fighting for basic rights on the job was illegal in this country.”
“We’ve come a long way from those roots over a century ago, but the spirit of the Labour Day movement is still as important today: to protect and champion the rights of workers.”
“This year, Labour Day is different from any other in our province’s history. The pandemic continues to challenge us, but it has also taught us valuable lessons – like how much we depend on the workers of this province every day.”
