11 additional cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health

VICTORIA—11 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region have been reported this afternoon.

The new cases bring the north’s total to 266 test-positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Cases by health region:

• Vancouver Coastal Health: 2,984
• Fraser Health: 4,254
• Island Health: 203
• Interior Health: 511
• Northern Health: 266
• People who reside outside of Canada: 86

Provincially, there are 96 new cases, including seven epi-linked cases, for a total of 8,304.

1,465 cases are active in B.C., 3,314 people are under active public health monitoring for being exposed to a known case and 61 people are in hospital. Of the 61, 22 are in ICU. No new deaths were reported, in total 227 people have died from COVID-19 in B.C.

There is one additional healthcare outbreak, for a total of 16 outbreaks in B.C.’s healthcare system. There are no new community outbreaks, however community exposure events continue and British Columbians can monitor them via the BC Centre for Disease Control’s website.

Once again the provincial health officer (PHO) is stressing the importance of reducing the amount of people we see as we head into the fall and winter months.

Both the PHO and Deputy Minister of Health add that we need to bend out curve back down in B.C. in order to be able to manage the many challenges that will come with the respiratory season.

6,589 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
