Return to Play

U18 Cariboo Cougars prep plan to play games this fall

Try-outs for the U18 Cariboo Cougars took place over the Labour Day long weekend and since then the club has been taking to the ice for practice.

However, like everything in 2020, it has come with some challenges.

The team is only allowed to have 24 skaters on the ice at a time, including coaches.

As a result, the team has been forced to do a rotation schedule when it comes to their practices as they currently have 24 players on their roster due to the roster expansion implemented by BC Hockey for this season.

The good news for the U18 Cariboo Cougars though is, it looks like the club will be taking to the ice in October for meaningful games as the club as lined up tentative games with Thompson/Okanagan in 100 Mile House where they would play a pair of exhibition games.

Then later in the month, the team will head to the lower mainland to begin a cohort model of play, which will see two cohort groups of 4, 8 teams total playing games in Abbotsford.

This will then continue into November and December.

Until then, the team will be working on their structure as they continue to practice frequently at Kin 1, and overall the entire organization, both players and coaches are thrilled they will be able to take to the ice for meaningful games in the future.
