11 additional cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 98 in B.C.

VICTORIA–11 new cases of COVID-19 were reported this afternoon in the Northern Health region.

The new cases bring the north’s total to 289 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Cases by health region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 3,127
  • Fraser Health: 4,412
  • Island Health: 204
  • Interior Health: 522
  • Northern Health: 289
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 87

Provincially, there are 98 new cases, including one epi-linked case, totalling 8,641.

1,349 cases are active in the province, while 3,533 people are under active public health monitoring for being exposed to a known case of the virus. 62 of the active cases are in hospital of whom 19 are in ICU. One new death has been reported for a total of 230 deaths in B.C.

One new health-care facility outbreak in the Fraser Health region was reported, while another was declared over. 14 outbreaks in the health care system remain. There are no new community outbreaks.

British Columbians are asked to make safe choices this weekend in order to keep loved ones safe and healthy. 7,036 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
