14 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 267 in B.C.

VICTORIA–14 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region were announced this afternoon, since Friday’s last update.

Provincially, there are 267 new cases (since Friday), 10 of which are epi-linked for a total of 8,908 cases in B.C. since the start of the pandemic.

Cases by health region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 3,226
  • Fraser Health: 4,555
  • Island Health: 206
  • Interior Health: 531
  • Northern Health: 303
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 87

There are 1,302 active cases, in all health authorities at the moment, of those 69 are in hospital of whom 22 are in ICU. There are five people in hospital in the Northern Health region.

There have been three deaths over the weekend bringing B.C.’s death toll to 233.

There are three new outbreaks in the health care system for a total of 16. 494 residents have been affected and 335 have been staff members in health care.

Dr. Henry once again emphasized how higher case numbers in recent weeks can continue to be attributed to events such as weddings, birthdays and funerals.

3,372 people are being monitored by public health for being exposed to a known case. 7,346 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
