B.C. extends provincial state of emergency

VICTORIA — The B-C government is once again extending the province’s state of emergency until October 13th, allowing officials to use emergency powers as the COVID-19 pandemic wears on.
The move comes as B-C recorded 105 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death, bringing the province’s death toll to 234.
The number of active cases ticked down to one-thousand-268, including 69 people in hospital, while more than 3,300 people are being monitored after being exposed to a known case.
There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at Haro Park Centre, a long-term care facility in Vancouver.The original declaration was made on March 18, 2020, the day after Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, declared a public health emergency.
