3 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 125 in B.C.

VICTORIA–Three new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health for a total of 312 in the north since the start of the pandemic.

Provincially, there are 125 new cases, including one epi-linked case bringing B.C.’s total to 9,138.

Cases by health region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 3,340
  • Fraser Health: 4,658
  • Island Health: 208
  • Interior Health: 533
  • Northern Health: 312
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 87

1,284 cases are active in B.C. and there are 3,202 people who are under active health monitoring for being exposed to a known case. 72 people are in hospital of who 21 are in ICU. There have been no new deaths and no new community or health care outbreaks.

“COVID-19 has required all of us to change how we work, go to school and spend time with friends and family. This has put an emotional and mental strain on everyone,” reads a release by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Deputy Minister, Stephen Brown.

The duo are asking British Columbians to take a moment to be kind, by thanking staff at local grocery stores, reaching out to an elderly neighbour to see what they may need help with or sending a note to a friend you haven’t seen in a while.

“Let’s protect our communities by choosing to do our part every day. This is what will keep us strong and allow us to get through the COVID-19 pandemic,” ends the statement.
