Fort St. John nurse raises more than $35,000 for early detection cancer equipment
FORT ST.JOHN—Every year the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation invites locals to participate in their Bluey Days event, which aims at gathering community funds for the purchase of early detection cancer equipment.
This year Brenda Baumeister, who’s been a Licensed Practical Nurse for 32 years—30 of those in Northern Health, decided to go above and beyond with her fundraising.
“Early detection is a huge piece to support people (who are going through cancer), as well as keeping them close to supports and family.”—Brenda Baumeister, Licensed Practical Nurse, Northern Health
Baumeister had several reasons to want to get involved in the fundraiser. Both of her parents, and several other loved ones have gone through cancer, making it a cause close to home.
