Fort St. John nurse raises more than $35,000 for early detection cancer equipment

Her goal was to raise $1,000 for every year that she’s worked at Northern Health, making her fundraising total $30,000. She says that with the pandemic she had to brainstorm on new and innovative ways of fundraising to meet her goal.

Not only did she meet her $30,000 goal but she surpassed it by $7,244 for a grand total of $37,244. Those who participated in the fundraiser this year were prized with shaving their hair off.

Baumeister is just a couple years away from her retirement and says that she’d thought about participating in the event for a while, and mentions that she will leave happy knowing that she was able to raise more than $30,000 for the cause. She adds that she probably won’t be taking on a fundraiser of this size again but has a few words of advice for those who may want to take a stab at it, “Get out there, be humble, and ask for help.”
