Costco announces mandatory mask policy
Nov 12, 2020 | 12:19 PM
PRINCE GEORGE — As cases of COVID-19 continue to surge around the world, retail giant Costco has announced a mandatory face mask or face shield policy at its stores in North America, including at its Prince George location starting Nov.16. Children under the age of two are exempt.
“Costco has had a face mask policy in effect since May 4, 2020, but members who could not wear a mask due to a medical condition were exempt,” says President and CEO Craig Jelinek in a statement.
“This is no longer the case. If a member has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, they must wear a face shield at Costco.”
He says the updated policy “may seem inconvenient to some, ” but says the “added safety is worth any inconvenience.”
