Updated – Snowfall warning continues for the Prince George region

PRINCE GEORGE – A weather system will track through the central interior today giving snow to most of the region.

Snow over the McGregor and Yellowhead regions will continue today as well over the Yellowhead Highway. Further snow accumulations of 5 to 15 cm are expected except possibly reaching 20 cm over the Yellowhead Highway by late this evening..

Over the Prince George, Stuart – Nechako regions and the southern sections of Lakes District, the snow will taper off to a few flurries this evening with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm expected.

PRINCE GEORGE – Keep your shovels and snowblowers handy, a big system filled with snow will move over the city on Friday.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Prince George as they call for between 10-15 centimetres of snow tapering off Friday afternoon.

Highway 97 and the Pine Pass, and Highway 16 east of Prince George also have highway alerts in effect as 15 centimetres of snow is expected in higher elevations.

Snow over the McGregor region will continue Thursday night and move over Highway 16 east of the city.

Snow from the system will start overnight and become heavier on Friday. The snow will taper off to a few flurries Friday evening with total amounts near 15 cm possible.

Y.R.B. the main contractor for highways around the region has posted to social media with a statement advising drivers to never pass a plow truck on the right.
