Friday was supposed to be the start of the BCHL regular season.
However, that is not the case due to the new protocols put in place by the B.C government.
Right now all of the teams in the BCHL are in a holding pattern as they await news from Dr. Bonnie Henry on whether or not the restrictions will be extended past December 7th.

“We’re hoping we can are going to begin to play on December 8th. If not, our task force will meet and make a plan ‘C’,” explained Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes to CKPG.
As we enter December though, what does this all mean for the players as we enter the holiday season?
“The task force has recommended to the teams that unfortunately they have recommended that they do not travel home at Christmas this year,” shared Hawes.
“For the American players in our league for them to travel home, it would be difficult because they probably wouldn’t be able to get back into Canada.”
It is just a recommendation though, and players can still go home for the holidays, but when they return, they will be required to complete a mandatory quarantine period.
Regardless of when the season gets going though, it is safe to say the Spruce Kings organization and the entire BCHL is chomping at the bit to get back on the ice for meaningful games and begin their regular season.
