Hart Ski Hill ‘pumped’ to finally open after mild start to winter

PRINCE GEORGE – Although there isn’t as much snow as they would’ve hoped, there were many smiling and masked faces when the Hart Ski Hill opened for its 52nd season this weekend.

Bernadette Kipping, President of the Hart Highlands Winter Club says the opening is still right around the average time, even though snowmaking machines have had to work extra hard already this season.

“It’s not the day we had hoped but we’re happy to be open for these kids holidays so they can enjoy skiing and snowboarding with their family,” says Kipping

New COVID-19 protocols at the hill include mandatory mask-wearing, mandatory gloves, and social distancing around the hill and inside the ski lodge which has capacity reduced to 50%.

“Signage is big here, we have brought in outbuildings thanks to Spruce Credit Union, we’ve got our first aid rooms available outside and we’ve got outdoor washrooms,” says Kipping.

Rentals are still available daily, with daily hours currently from 9 am – 4 pm.

The ski hill also has a 50/50 draw coming up to support operations and maintenance, the draw date is Christmas eve with tickets available on-site.
