Three PG residents raise over $30,000 for Ness Lake Bible Camp

Despite the annual Polar Bear Dip being officially canceled due to Covid-19 restrictions, that didn’t stop a trio of individuals from taking the plunge on New Years Day.

Mark and Carol Stofer took an icy dip Saturday after they hit their fundraising goal of $20,000.

Meanwhile, Todd Wilkins, a pastor from College Heights Baptist Church also took the plunge as he raised more than $10,000 for Ness Lake Bible Camp.

“The money raised today (Friday) is going towards sending kids to camp that otherwise could not afford to come,” stated Program Director Dayna Penson in a press release sent out by Ness Lake Bible Camp.

The annual Polar Bear dip has been a tradition in Prince George for the past 20 years and usually draws over 100 participants.

Since Ness Lake Bible Camp was founded in 1953, over 58,000 children have participated in their programs.

Last year the camp hosted 1,792 campers.
