446 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 46 in Northern Health

VICTORIA — The provincial government announced 446 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. today, 46 in Northern Health.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 96
  • Fraser Health: 223
  • Island Health: 14
  • Interior Health: 67
  • Northern Health: 46

That brings the provincial total to 58,553 cases, 51,144 of whom have recovered.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says the number of active cases has dropped from 5,220 yesterday, to 5,045 today. There are 368 people in hospital with the virus, 72 of whom are in intensive care.

“To date, 62,294 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in British Columbia,” says Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

There have been nine new COVID-19 related deaths bringing the provincial death toll to 1,019 in B.C. One of those deaths was in Northern Health, bringing the death toll in northern B.C. to 43.

Forty-three people are now hospitalized in northern B.C., 16 of whom are in critical care.The number of active cases in Northern Health remains unchanged from yesterday, staying at 497.

There have been 2,606 total cases in Northern Health since the pandemic began, 2,049 of those people have recovered.
