Exploration Place calls on green thumbs

PRINCE GEORGE – The folks at Exploration Place are calling on the city’s green thumbs.

“We are going to transform what everyone knew as our atrium into a paleo-botany hall,” says Tracy Calogheros, CEO for Exploration Place. But the wall is very large and to cover it in plants would cost a small fortune so the Exploration Place is asking people to drop off some cuttings of indoor, tropical plants this coming Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“We need them to be tropical evergreens because it’s the indoor environment. We’re not going to be adjusting for the seasons,” explains Chad Hellenius, the botanist at Exploration Place and self-professed plant nerd. So plants like the Pothos, the Swiss Cheese plants and Dracaena plants are what they have in mind.

No potted plants, please. But, if you do have a potted plant that has outgrown your home, reach out to the museum at plants@theexplorationplace.com
