Northern Capitals look to rally community for arena upgrades through Kraft Hockeyville

Currently, the Northern Capitals are finalizing their submission to post within the next 24-48 hours, and are looking for community support to make sure they are selected into the final rounds.

In a release issued by the organization, the community can start to show their support by sending support submissions through the Kraft Hockeyville website once the Capitals complete their submission.

“This is an incredible opportunity to showcase female hockey in the north, to help further develop the hockey culture in our communities, which is something we strive for within Cariboo Hockey,” said Caleb Wilson, Director of Media Relations for Cariboo Hockey in a release.

In 2019, Ernie Sam Memorial Arena was nominated for Kraft’s Project Play but didn’t end up winning.

That same year marked the first time BC Major Midget Hockey held an outdoor game, which was held at Ernie Sam Memorial Arena when the Cariboo Cougars took on the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs.

Nominations for this year’s contest are being accepted up until midnight on February 15. The judging will then begin February 19 with the top four communities across Canada being selected March 20. The winner of this year’s contest is expected to be determined after April 10th.
