Northern Capitals look to rally community for arena upgrades through Kraft Hockeyville
PRINCE GEORGE – Just over a year ago, the BC Winter Classic was held in the community of Fort St James, at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena in Nak’azdli Whut’en.
The event saw the Cariboo Cougars take on the Vancouver Northwest Hawks, and the Northern Capitals faced off against the Greater Vancouver Comets, which marked the first-ever outdoor game in the history of the BC Female Triple-A Midget Hockey League.
While neither team saw the success they were hoping for on the ice during the showcase, the event itself caught the eye of Kraft Hockeyville, which rewards the winner of its annual contest with $250,000 in arena upgrades.
According to Cariboo Hockey, it was Kraft Hockeyville who actually came to them urging them to apply for the nomination ahead of the 2021 Kraft Hockeyville Challenge.
