PRINCE GEORGE – The Northern Capitals captain Kiera Mulder recently announced her commitment to the Red Deer College Queens program.

“I was really excited to finally say I have a spot for next year considering all of my recruitment process got shut down last year. It was a great feeling to finally have that weight off of my shoulders of where I’m going to be next year.”

The 17-year-old defender was named captain of the Capitals amid the ongoing pandemic this past December.

In her combined U18 Female AAA career in Prince George, Mulder has tallied two goals and seven assists for nine points.

Through this entire process for Mulder, head coach Mario Desjardins played a key role, having the product of Terrace, BC’s back and ensuring his captain had a place to continue her athletic career.

“Most coaches are looking for gameplay so having an ally like Mario (Desjardins) to give the good word and express what I’m like as a player. It really opened up my options because he was able to convince the coaches more than anything because they couldn’t actually see me, so they were able to take his word for it.”

Kiera plans to transfer after two years at Red Deer, hoping to get her Degree in Kinesiology. She plans to attend either the University of Calgary or the University of Alberta once she’s done at RDC.
