Northern BC Tourism partners with Community Futures
PRINCE GEORGE – According to government figures, tourism generated a direct contribution to BC’s gross domestic product of $8.3 billion in 2018, an increase of three percent over 2017 and 42.1 percent since 2008. It is a big business in this province but it is also a fragile one.
And to help keep the industry afloat, Northern BC Tourism has formalized a relationship it has had with community futures for years, recently signing an official memorandum of understanding.
“Businesses across the Northern BC region have experienced entirely new challenges this past year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re committed to supporting tourism businesses in our region as they weather this storm which is why we are thrilled to formalize a regional partnership with Community Futures,” says Clint Fraser, CEO of the Northern BC Tourism Association. “Community Futures has long been an informal partner with whom we share common goals, but to have that partnership formalized through this newest MOU will only strengthen and better support the tourism industry across Northern BC.”
