Cerry Nash becomes $100k richer through Spruce Kings Show Home Mega 50/50

PRINCE GEORGE – “I cannot believe that,” a very excited Cerry Nash said during a call with Spruce Kings Show Home Manager Liz Bennett.

“I’m just shocked.”

An exciting phone call to receive after being pulled as the winner of this year’s Spruce Kings Show Home’s first of two Mega 50-50 draws. Exciting news for Nash but also a just as exciting moment for Bennett as well.

“On a personal level, I love seeing other people get good news,” said Bennett. “I get so excited when other people are excited. That phone call, she was so appreciative and excited.”

Having gone from an $80,000 pot up to the $100,000 in a matter of only a couple of days was monumental. At a time like now with so much financial strain and stress being felt by many, the funds raised through the 50-50 go to help the Prince George Spruce King substantially.

“One of the things we pointed out late in the 50-50 push was that selling out that last little bit basically enables us to make sure our players get fed all season long, even when they’re just here practicing,” said Kyle Anderson, Business Operations Manager with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

“Those are expenses that are always going to be there. Selling out the first 50-50 was a great first step in making sure those items were covered.”

Selling out the second 50-50 is just as critical for the survival of the Spruce Kings just to ensure the club is in a good position heading into the offseason and getting ready for what’s hopefully a normal 2021-2022 season. The City of Prince George has earned a reputation for supporting and backing community organizations, but it’s still somewhat surprising considering the circumstances of this year.

“There are two seasons in Prince George. One is the Hospice Dream Home season and the other is the Spruce Kings Show Home season,” explained Anderson. “Everyone saw with the Hospice Dream Home how quickly it sold out and how many people support that cause and how important it is. It’s really heartwarming for everyone in the Spruce Kings organization to understand that our community understands how important the Spruce Kings are as well. I’ve learned in my time here the support is always going to be there from the community and they always come together when it’s needed the most.”

Tickets are 50 percent sold now for the Show Home prize draw, and the pot for the second Mega 50-50 is currently sitting at $14,000. The winner of the Show Home will be the new owners of a brand new stunning home valued at $670,000 in the Aberdeen Glen subdivision. Draws for both will be taking place on April 30th.
