Knife wielding man arrested after armed robbery

QUESNEL — A Quesnel man is being held in custody after an armed robbery.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen says it all started at 11:30 a.m. yesterday (Feb.18) when employees at Rona observed a man attempting to steal some tools.

He says an off-duty officer followed the man out of the store and provided a description of the suspect.

“While the police were trying to locate the suspect, the man entered Eagle Home Building Centre and tried to steal a drill. When approached by employees, the man produced a knife and threatened to kill the staff members.”

Weseen says police quickly attended the scene and arrested the suspect two blocks away. A drill and knife were recovered by police.

He says the suspect is due to appear in court today (Feb.19). His name has not been released.
