The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all and has shown us the importance of helping one another and advocating for those who need it.

For the last eight years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC has taken the lead in the annual Pink Shirt Day.

The origin of pink shirt day came from a bullying incident at a high school many years ago. Tim Bennett with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC says raising awareness around the issue has helped but notes it’s still occurring online.

During this year’s Pink Shirt Day Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC sold a record number of shirts. An indication more people are wanting change.

The funds from the sale of the Pink Shirts will go towards supporting programs at Big Brother that encourage healthy self-esteem and teach empathy, compassion, and kindness.
