Police incident on Highway 97 just south of 150 Mile House

150 MILE HOUSE — Update: North District RCMP have arrested two people after allegedly attempting to steal a truck from the 1700 block of Loon Lake Road in Loon Lake.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says when the suspects were confronted, a shot was fired from an occupant of the truck. The truck then fled the scene and allegedly broke into a home in the 400 block of Loon Lake Road.

“Clinton RCMP were called and immediately responded and learned that the vehicle, later confirmed to be stolen, was northbound and not stopping for police. In keeping with public safety, the stolen vehicle was not pursued further after reaching speeds in excess of 120 kilometres per hour.

At around 10:50 a.m., the vehicle was spotted heading past the 70 Mile store, northbound on Highway 97. A spike belt was successfully deployed by the 100 Mile House RCMP near 93 Mile, however the vehicle continued to travel north.
