Snowboard X World Cup: O’Dine, Bichon hit rough track in Bakuriani
BAKURIANI, GEORGIA – The track in Bakuriani didn’t treat a pair of Prince George products well this week during the World Cup event in FIS Snowboard Cross Racing.
Evan Bichon, 22, and Meryeta O’Dine, 24, went from Reiteralm, Austria in late February to Bakurani on what has been a rigorous season due to the impacts from COVID-19.
Today (Thursday), Bichon placed 44th out of 46 participants in the Men’s Snowboard Cross. A tumble during the first round of qualifications set Bichon back and wasn’t able to put down the second run he was wanting ahead of finals.
Meanwhile, in the women’s event, O’Dine finished 17th out of the 27 women competing She was the third-highest-ranked Canadian in her race trailing only Zoe Bergermann (10th) and Audrey McManiman (16th).
