737 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 82 in the Northern Health region

PRINCE GEORGE — The daily number of COVID-19 cases in British Columbia continues to rise.

Today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 737 new cases of the virus, including 82 in the Northern Health region.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 163
  • Fraser Health: 426
  • Island Health: 32
  • Interior Health: 33
  • Northern Health: 82

That brings the total number of test positive cases in the province to 90,786, 84,078 of those people have recovered.

“There are 5,207 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 9,412 people under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases,” says Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix in a joint statement.

“Of the active cases, 292 individuals are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 85 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.”

There have also been 68 new confirmed COVID-19 cases that are variants of concern in our province, for a total of 1,200 cases. Of the total cases, 149 are active and the remaining people have recovered.

To date, 490,022 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 87,139 of which are second doses.

Sadly there have been two new COVID-19 related deaths bringing B.C.’s total to 1,421.
