800 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 58 in Northern Health

VICTORIA — The daily surge in COVID-19 cases continues.

British Columbia’s provincial government announced another 800 cases today, including 58 in the northern health region.

There have been 191 new confirmed cases that are variants of concern, for a total of 1,722. Two hundred and fifteen are active.

There are 5,856 active cases of the virus, 306 of those people are in hospital, 79 of whom are in intensive care.

There have been five new deaths for a total of 1,446 in B.C.

To date, just over 610,671 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in BC.

The numbers come on the heels of the the provincial government announcing earlier today that it was easing restrictions on visits to long-term care homes and an easing on indoor religious gatherings.
