Cougars beat the Royals
Kelowna, BC- The Prince George Cougars are back in the win column after a 5-2 win Friday against the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
A big second period was the difference for the Cougars, who have now won three of their last four games. Prince George scored three times in the middle frame, including the game-winning goal off the stick of Jonny Hooker.
Majid Kaddoura and Keaton Dowhaniuk also scored in the second. For Dowhaniuk it was his first goal in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Kyren Gronick (empty net) and Tyson Upper scored 10 seconds apart late in the third to put the game to bed. Riley Heidt chipped in with two assists.
Taylor Gauthier was solid between the pipes for the Cougars. The 19-year-old picked up his second win of the season after turning aside 19 of 21 shots.
