Late push can’t get Cougars past Rockets
KAMLOOPS, BC – For the second night in a row, the Prince George Cougars came up a goal short, as they fell 2-1 to the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday night at the Sandman Centre.
The Rockets (9-4-1-0) scored twice in the first period and that’s all the offence they needed, as goaltender Cole Schwebius stopped 30 of 31 shots. Alex Swetlikoff and David Kope scored just under four minutes apart midway through the opening frame to put the visitors up by a pair.
Majid Kaddoura scored the Cougars (9-9-2-1) lone goal, on the power-play, six and half minutes into the third period to cut the deficit in half. Kaddoura scored his second of the second on a one-timer from the face-off circle on the right-wing to put the Cougars on the comeback trail.
